Blood Death Knight Tank Guide Cataclysm [4.0.6]

Welcome to my Blood Death Knight Tanking Guide for Cataclysm 4.0.6

Blood Death knight are well knows for theyre great tanking and selfhealing ability when using blood spec all the way back from Wotlk .Thats probably why Blizzard made Blood a permanent tanking spec.So in this guide i will cover for you the spec,the geming,the enchanting,the gear you would benifit from the most,the stat prioraty and ofc the rotation for every situation,aswell as some other typs that might be usefull.

1)Starting with Talents and Glyphs.

Now Death knight tanks' threat generating is based up on the damage they cause thats why i've chosen glyphs wich will increse the damage of 3 of my main abilitys.As for the talents they are orientated in causing higher damage(wich means higher threat),providing good surviveability and the ability to cround control big packs.And thats what every tank needs now isn't it xD.

2)Your basic Rotations.
- So your single target is basicly the same as in Wotlk with a slite diference this time:
Icy Touch>Plague Strike>Heart Strike(2 times)>Death Strike>(NEW) Rune Strike(As your filler/Spamm ability)

Allso you will offtain be able to use your Blood Boil without losing any runes this is thanks to the new talent Crimson Blood so its good to use it every time it procs because it does a fair amount of AoE damage and provides more threat.

Usefull to know:When you are fighting a boss wich does alot of damage don't relay only on your healer try to pull off as much selfhealing as you can.That can easly be done by skiping Icy Touch and Plagu Strike for once and you will have enaugh runes to cast Death Strike 2 times in a roll,but make sure to time it correcty you would not want to just waste it on overhealing.Still its good to know that you won't lose that much threat if you avoid applying your deseases for once,but do that only if you are losing alot of health and healer can not currenty keep up.

-Now to the AoE Rotation:
Once again Death and Decay will be your opener.So whenever facing a pack of mobs just drop Death and Decay infront of them and charge in.
After thats done you just go on with apllying your deseases and spreading them:Icy Touch>Plague Strike>Pestilience>Blood Boil.After all of that just focus on keeping your deseases up and spamming Blood Boil as much as you can.Never forget your filler ability whenever your out of runes wich is Rune Strike.

3)Usefull Macros:Here i will add up a good list of macros that might help enchance your gameplay.

-Icy Touch/Plague Strike:

This macro will bind Icy Touch and Plague Strike to on button making it easyer to use and freeing an extra ability slot for you.

-Pestilience/Blood Boil

/castsequence [mod:shift] reset=7 Pestilence; Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Blood Boil

Another macro that will bind 2 spells in a single button this time it's Pestilience and Blood Boil.Now that macro not only binds them but gives you the ability to switch between them by pressing "Shift Button" on your keyboard.

-Bone Shield/Horn of Winter

/castsequence reset=20 Horn of Winter, Bone Shield

This is a fairly usefull macro wich binds your basic DK buff Horn of Winter and your basic DK Tanking buff Bone Shield in one button.You will need to refresh these each time you get the chance.

-Rise the Dead/Death Pact

/castsequence reset=60 Raise Dead, Death Pact

Press it once to summon the ghoul, which can be used for damage and fun. Press again to heal - immediately, or after some time. You have 1 min before the ghoul dies. You can summon the ghoul early if you know you will need to heal with it.

4)Stats:
Before you do anything it would be good to have your stats set and to actualy know what you need.
What a Blood DK benifits from the most would be Stamina/Parry Rating/Mastery Rating,so these would be the stats you would want to enchance all the way,but...before you go for any of these stats you need to get to your Hit Rating Cap so that you wont miss.If you miss alot on attacks you would most likely be outagroed by some dps.Thats why you need to reach 8% Hit Rating before you go for any of the other requamended stats.Geming and Reforging helps along the way with that.

5)Gems:Well not much to talk about here just giving you the gems you need would be enaugh so here it goes...

Meta:Austere Shadowspirit Diamond
Red:Defender's Demonseye(If Hit Caped)/Retaliating Demonseye(If not Hit Caped)
Yellow:Fine Ember Topaz
Blue:Solid Ocean Sapphire(Again if Hit Caped)/Retaliating Demonseye(If not Hit Caped)

6)Enchants:Again not much to talk about I'll just give you the Enchants i would requament and tell you where to get each from:

Helm Enchant:Arcanum of the Earthen Ring (You can get that from Provisioner Arok)
Shoulder Enchant:Greater Inscription of Unbreakable Quartz(You can get that from D'lom the Collector)
Cloak Enchant:Enchant Cloak - Protection(You can get that from Enchanting)
Chest Enchant:Enchant Chest - Peerless Stats(You can get that from Enchanting)
Bracer Enchant:Enchant Bracer - Major Stamina(You get that from Enchanting)
Weapon Enchant:Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle(You get that from Runeforging)
Gloves Enchant:Enchant Gloves - Greater Mastery(You get that from Enchanting)
Belt Enchant:Ebonsteel Belt Buckle(You get that from Blacksmithing)
Legs Enchant:Charscale Leg Armor(You get that from Leatherworking)
Boots Enchant:Enchant Boots - Earthen Vitality(You get that from Enchanting)
